Well, I never did make Ukranian eggs this year, there's just been too much going on. But here's a pic of an egg I made last year - this is one that's survived the test of time without cracking or exploding, so I was able to display it once again this Easter.
This is just a regular chicken egg. I wish I could share a step-by-step on making Ukranian eggs because I think it's a fascinating and somewhat magical technique, but I guess that will have to wait till next year. I know, I know, you won't be able to sleep all year with the anticipation - I'm sorry to do that to you!
What I did make this year is quail easter eggs! This was a first for me, but I saw a container of these mini eggs at the market and decided to go for it. I love the speckled look, I wish I had a little bird's nest to display these in. I just used regular old Paas dyes for these, and I was happy that the color turned out nicely since the eggs are a light brown to begin with and I wasn't sure how they would take the dye.
Hope you all had a great Easter, for those of you who celebrate it.

The quail eggs are beautiful and they look great in the vintage desert dish. Did the Wampum Easter Bunny deliver the chocolate bunny?? PS
OMG that painted egg is beautiful! i had no idea you could do such a thing!
