dream bed

One of the magical things about my job is that little elves leave little gifts on my desk during the night. Usually, it's in the form of pages torn from magazines with photos of items that might inspire ideas I can use for work. I never have enough time to read all the mags and catalogs I'd like, so it's wonderful to have all those eyes and ears on the lookout for good ideas.

This morning, I arrived at my desk to find this great pic. I don't know what magazine it's from, but I believe it's a British publication. (If anyone knows, let me know, and I'll give credit.) I love this picture for its bright airiness (oh to have sunlight like this in my home!), and its lovely mix of vintage-looking pieces with such contemporary results. I really dig the combination of two different bold floral prints with that crazy chevron throw, and the eclectic mix of furniture styles between bed, bench and ceiling lamp - yet it all comes together so harmoniously.

Needless to say, I adore the crochet afghan. I really want to make a retro crochet bedspread for the bedroom... but of course, it's just one item on a super-long to-do/wish list, so for now I'll just have to enjoy the photo and dream.

Hey--I have a crazy chevron afghan on my bed, or as my daughter calls it, "rainbow lightning blanket," It was made of red heart over 30 years ago by my grandmother, and still looks like new. Long live acrylic! ;-)

i love the throw. being from LA it reminds me of the colorful blankets from Mexico. my grandmother taught me how to crochet and she was so smart to teach me with that multi-color string. I just wanted to crochet until i had this groovy colorful doily!

and i love texture! bring on the prints!!
