shocking!

Isn't this the most beautiful thing you've ever seen?

It's my new outlet!

May not look like much to most of you, but this outlet is a pretty big deal in our apartment. Round about, oh, ten months ago, Mr. MCR and I (okay, mostly him) tore down a small wall between the kitchen and living room. There was an outlet on the wall. Once the wall went down, the outlet was left hanging by a thick metal cord from the ceiling. Yep, right there, smack-dab in the middle of the now-open kitchen and living room, just hanging out of the ceiling.

So, the outlet hung there and hung there, month after month. Countless curse words were uttered as it knocked us in the heads, shoulders and backs. It was a mean, ugly thing. There was a big hunk of plaster stuck to it and - I swear, I'm not making this up - a splintered piece of broken wood sticking out of the plaster. It's a miracle that no one lost an eye.

Well, that's all history now, because this weekend Mr. MCR moved that outlet to its new home on the actual kitchen wall. All the wires are neatly tucked away, and it is just the prettiest thing ever. It's conveniently positioned above our nice, long countertop, which was previously outlet-less. I can't wait to plug my KitchenAid into this puppy and make some cake!
