I am in desperate want of a chair like this. I want to paint the wood parts white (if they're aren't already), and I want to upholster it in a really crazy loud graphic print. I don't need an authentic Louis IV Bergere chair, any knockoff will do, and crummy quality is fine. Where are you, my chair? More accurately, where are you for less than $2000, preferably in the $100 range?
New York is great in many ways, but it's absolutely lousy for vintage and antique shopping. Prices are so inflated it's insulting, especially because I know all the vintage shop owners just drive to my home state of Pennsylvania, and other nearby states, buy up all the good loot, drive it here, and quadruple the price. Or, like, quadruple-quadruple the price, whatever the word is for that.
Anyway, my knockoff, crummy quality, wanting to be painted and reupholstered fake Louis IV chair is out there somewhere. If you see it, let me know, please!
PS: I would also take a chair like the one below, or any interesting wood-frame-with-upholstery vintage seat.
PPS: Seriously, I will pay shipping, so if anybody has any leads on where to find this kind of chair for cheap, please let me know!

'quazruple'.
so TRUE. price sin nyc for vintage/antique furniture are simply INSULTING.
you will find your chair on a drive down the jersey coats and into PA. I have a feeling.....
did you check the basement...? you didn't hear that from me!
Check the streets of Greenpoint! I see so many great pieces that would be amazing with the right amount of creativity and just a little elbow grease. I am always so sad that I don't have the space to take them in and care for them myself. Someone should though, they deserve it...
i have two of those chairs
