catlady fridays are back! (plus a new free sewing project)

I have some new inspiration for Catlady Fridays, and it's that beautiful little lady you see in the picture above, who just happens to be MY NEW KITTY! [cue high-pitched squealing]

I'm so completely in love with her I can't even stand it. She is so sweet and adorable, and just perfect for me in every way. I was so worried that I would get a cat who wouldn't quite "fit" in with my life, but this little gal is just everything I wanted and more.

I adopted her about a month ago, she is almost 3 years old and up till recently she was a working mama cat at a very nice breeder in upstate New York. She decided to retire to pursue a life of leisure, and was looking for a new home -- so I snatched her up!

She has all kinds of magical qualities, like she doesn't shed (can you believe it, with all that fur??), she doesn't even want to sit on my furniture so I never get cat hair on my clothes, she loves to be petted and cuddled whenever I want (but never gets up in my face and demands attention), and she's top-notch at striking cat poses, like perching adorably on my window sill. Also, her coat feels just like a baby alpaca. I mean, come on. That's just too much.

She's also shaping up to be a great model, and very graciously agreed to participate in the photo shoot for my recent Sewing 101 post on Design Sponge, which is all about sewing a wool throw. So head on over to Design Sponge if you'd like to learn to make the throw that little miss kitty is perched on. It's very easy and makes a GREAT holiday gift.

PS: Since I know you'll ask - I haven't decided on a name yet! Any ideas?

She's very royal looking... how about Contessa, Tess for short, or Marquesa, or something regal? Although I still love your 'Betty White' idea.

Just don't sheer her to make yarn. :) She's beautiful!

she's adorbz! smooshed-faced animals are the very best. that white marking on her chin looks like a spoon...

"CINDER"

It matches [pun unintended] her colouring. And you can always nickname her "Catterella"...

oh my gosh. look at that face!! sounds like you just won the cat lottery.. those qualities don't come along very often.

I am very bad with names... but I like to name my animals after characters from my favorite books. (My cat is Seymour Glass).

Totes adorbz! Re: the names, how about Matilda, Ramona Catby, Princess Meowser Furfulla the First, or Agatha?

I love her.

can't stand the cuteness!
ok, this is not an old lady name and it's kind of silly, but how about "pom pom"? the pom pom fringe on the blanket made me think of it, and she does kind of look like a pom pom.

of course, i still like martha stewart, too.

How about Mercury, and "Murky" for short?

what kind of cat is she that she is so cute and still has so many awesome characteristics (i.e. the not shedding!)?

She doesn't shed?? We had a blue cream persian (exactly what you have) years ago and she shed ALL OVER THE HOUSE. Jealous!

Love your blog! I've been reading through all your posts and I also post a lot about my cat (adopted him as an adult kitty too). I share in your cat-lady ways.
